7 out of 10 French people play video games at least occasionally, i.e. more than 37 million people. According the study of the Syndicate of Leisure Software Publishers (SELL) conducted by Médiamétrie, three quarters of them play at least once a week. Aged 39 on average, more than half of them prefer consoles (TV or laptop) to have fun with their favorite video game.
The survey also reveals that more than 18 million women play and that the majority of them play occasionally. We also talk about casual gaming (general public games on phones or tablets, editor's note).

44% of seniors play video games

While these figures are no longer surprising, the SELL study demonstrates that video game playing has never been so popular. Having become an intergenerational pastime, gaming is attracting more and more seniors and inspiring vocations, ensuring a bright future for the sector.
