Frédéric Jousset, president of Art Explora

« There are already a lot of museums. If we built one more, it wouldn't be very different, not very tempting, or we would attract the traditional public ". However, Frédéric Jousset, founder of Art Explora, wishes opening the doors of culture to another audience, and if possible to as many people as possible. Through its foundation, the museum ship (a 47-meter-long catamaran-sailing boat that can accommodate up to 150 people simultaneously) continues its cultural odyssey around the Mediterranean. It will be anchored in Marseille from June 6 to 18, ensuring that the Old Port vibrates with a rich cultural program, including an opening concert by the singer, four times awarded this year at the Victoires de la Musique, Zaho de Sagazan.

Art Explora, the promotion of art and culture in their entirety

The foundation wishes to reach a large population, and primarily audiences who do not usually frequent the existing cultural offerings. To achieve this, she chose the diversity of the arts represented, through digital works to discover on board the boat: “Presents”, a immersive exhibition produced in collaboration with the Louvre Museum highlighting female figures in Mediterranean civilizations, and an immersive sound journey in the Mediterranean produced by IRCAM and IRCAM Amplify. “ Art Explora complements the traditional cultural offering, which is why we are interested in the foot of a Greek statue as well as in a hip-hop battle and we do not define ourselves as a plastic art foundation. , visual or contemporary », specifies Frédéric Jousset.

Bringing the public together around the fascination for large boats

The America's Cup, the Route du Rhum, the Rouen Armada... at each start of a major nautical race or a gathering of sailboats and historic ships, the public's fascination with large boats is demonstrated. An opportunity to invite the curious aboard Art Explora, and allow them to experience a unique cultural experience, different from a traditional art center, depending on the patron. In each port city visited, a quayside space will also host a multidisciplinary artistic festival: concerts, dance shows, exhibition pavilions, film screenings, culinary experiences, workshops and poetic interventions, with a single motto: gather around of culture, breaking down barriers, encouraging meetings between artists and the public, and dialogue in a logic of cultural cooperation, of networking of contemporary creation.

Malta, Venice, Marseille, Rabat, Tangier, Malaga… around the Mediterranean, tomorrow around the world? “ 60% of the world's population lives less than 60 minutes from the coast. It is therefore essential to go by sea so that culture comes to knock on the doors of many audiences. », concludes Frédéric Jousset.
