Cannes 2024: at Critics’ Week, the French Touch Prize rewards Blue Sun Palace by Constance Tsang
Wednesday evening, at the Miramar space on the Croisette, the closing ceremony of the 63rd Critics' Week took place. It was “Simon de la Montaña”, by Federico Luis, who won the Grand Prize for this very fine selection of first and second feature films, the jury of which was chaired by producer Sylvie Pialat. The French Touch Prize of the jury was awarded to “Blue Sun Palace” by Constance Tsang.
Director Constance Tsang received the French Touch Jury Prize at Critics' Week on Wednesday, May 22nd. This parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival is the French Touch's third consecutive year partner. Tsang's debut feature film, Blue Sun Palace, stars Taiwanese actor and director Lee Kang-sheng. It succeeds Paloma Sermon-Dai's It's Raining in the House and Charlotte Wells' Aftersun , which won the French Touch Prize the previous two years.
The French Touch Jury Prize aims to reward the audacity and creativity of a unique cinematic gesture. Through this prize, the French Touch continues its mission of discovering the young talents of cinematographic creation who will make the cinema of tomorrow.
