Cannes 2024: at Critics’ Week, the French Touch Prize rewards Blue Sun Palace by Constance Tsang
Wednesday evening, at the Miramar space on the Croisette, the closing ceremony of the 63rd Critics' Week took place. It was “Simon de la Montaña”, by Federico Luis, who won the Grand Prize for this very fine selection of first and second feature films, the jury of which was chaired by producer Sylvie Pialat. The French Touch Prize of the jury was awarded to “Blue Sun Palace” by Constance Tsang.
Director Constance Tsang received the French Touch Prize on Wednesday May 22 from the jury of Critics' Week, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival of which French Touch was a partner for the third consecutive year. It is the first feature film by the American director, directed by Taiwanese actor and director Lee Kang-sheng. Blue Sun Palace by Constance Tsang succeeds It's raining in the house by Paloma Sermon-Daï and Aftersun by Charlotte Wells, awarded the French Touch Prize the two previous years.
The French Touch Jury Prize aims to reward the audacity and creativity of a unique cinematic gesture. Through this prize, the French Touch continues its mission of discovering the young talents of cinematographic creation who will make the cinema of tomorrow.
