Ligne Roset

In 160 years of history, Ligne Roset has established itself as a reference in the world of high-end contemporary furniture. Faced with the explosion of orders since June 2020, a tapestry training school has recently been created.

Known for their avant-gardism, the two brands of the group, Ligne Roset and Cinna, favor quality over quantity and advocate French excellence. Last year, they recorded a record increase in the number of orders: “ June 2020 was the biggest month in our history »says Antoine Roset, marketing director of Roset Group

An explosion in demand

« The successive confinements have caused the French to want to invest in their home, ”he adds. The TOGO sofa, Ligne Roset's iconic signature, has seen its sales explode, as have other emblematic pieces of the brand.

But this wave of orders is difficult to absorb by the group's production facilities. Consequence: delivery times are getting longer. " Our factories can grow, and we are not currently encountering any difficulties in sourcing the material. first, but the recruitment of labor is very problematic. »explains Antoine Roset. « Know-how is lost. In addition, on the plain of Ain, where we are located, we have a very low unemployment rate, which does not help. »

Train the next generation

To compensate for this lack of manpower, the group decides in 2020 to create a training school in upholstery, in partnership with Pôle Emploi, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the AFPIA Est-Nord Furniture School. " This idea had germinated just before the Covid crisis, to speed up the recruitment process. In September 2020, we contacted Pôle Emploi and then participated in the creation of a CQP (Professional Qualification Certificate) for upholstery ”, explains the marketing director.

At the end of 2020, recruitment for this new school was launched on the basis of technical and mechanical tests, followed by an interview. The process results in the selection of three men and two women, aged 27 to 44. In April 202, they began training for 600 hours in the factories of the Roset group. 300 hours are devoted to classic upholstery, thanks to the intervention of a trainer from the AFPIA Est-Nord Furniture School. The following 300 hours are dedicated to contemporary upholstery, including the complex know-how requires specific training.

Subject to obtaining their CQP, the five students will be hired by Ligne Roset to join the production lines of the plant.

A similar project, for sewing this time, should soon see the light of day in order to train the future recruits of the group. " We could hire a hundred people, in sewing, upholstery but also foremen, machine operators. » concludes Antoine Roset.
