Martin Solveig

Martin Solveig launched ALMA Studio in 2020, an application promoting the sleep of children aged 3 to 10 through audio content. The international representative of the French Touch talks about his latest entrepreneurial projects. Interview.

As a child, it was by listening to Mozart as well as the Talking Heads that the famous French DJ educated his ear. From the creation of an electronic music label during his years in business school to his childhood within the Maîtrise de Sainte-Croix de Neuilly, Martin Solveig has always stood out through the diversity of the projects in which he engaged himself. After making night owls from five continents dance, the artist's mission is to improve our children's sleep with Alma Studio.

Since the start of your career, what has fundamentally changed in your way of doing things?

When you're young and you start, you tend to want to do everything alone and I was in this case. Today, I learned to surround myself with talented people to carry out my projects. This is all the more important as it allows us to focus on our own area of expertise.

In 2016, you got involved in the Music World Media (MWM) project, a leader in mobile DJing applications. What convinced you?

I invest in very few projects because, as I see things, my participation cannot be solely financial. I have to add value.

By meeting Jean-Baptiste Hironde [note, founder of MWM], there was so much positive energy and connection to the music that it stuck with me.

Why did you create the Alma Studio application?

As for many entrepreneurs, the initial idea comes from my personal experience. At 2-3 years old, my daughter Alma had severe sleep problems and we usually took several hours to get her to sleep. Following the advice of our pediatrician, we tried the audio: the problem was solved. But I realized that it was difficult to find content aimed at young audiences. Alma Studio is a response to this need. I did some research and told myself that this need was widely shared. Today, the audio platform dedicated to children offers new content every week.

What is your leitmotif when you commit to a project?

I try to bring creative value. Finally, it's the same approach when I create a piece. I always ask myself the question: what is more or different from what I did previously? If I find the answer not clear enough, I usually keep it to myself. Music brings people together naturally and it is more and more precious. With Alma Studio, I turn to future generations. I am a dad, it makes things very concrete.

And finally, what advice would you like to share with French Touch entrepreneurs?

Daft Punk are a good source of inspiration! Be transgressive, break the codes, in short be “punk” to bring something new to your projects.
