match tune

MatchTune (Ex-Muzeek) are youne French startup founded in 2017 by composer and producer André Manoukian and engineers Philippe Guillaud, Igal Cohen Hadra and Herve gourdikian. Today, it innovates with Studio, a technology that reinvents the economic model of the music industry and aims to establish itself as a major player on the international scene.

In 2017, engineer Philippe Guillaud had just sold his third startup when he met André Manoukian at a dinner in San Francisco. The artist-musician then informs him of a difficulty suffered by the music industry : only 0,1% of the 150 million existing songs generate revenue. At the same time, the two entrepreneurs noticed the exponential creation of videos, especially on social networks. They then decide to launch MatchTune, a technology capable of sounding the videos of brands or influencers.

Better remunerate the work of artists

Based on artificial intelligence, the Studio platform – one of the startup's solutions – analyzes the content of videos and suggests relevant music to associate with it to synchronize them automatically, all this in a few seconds. " The objective is to facilitate the setting to music of a video by creating the first platform of music with images “, explains André Manoukian, president of MatchTune.

To build a catalog and introduce a new method of remuneration for labels, musicians and composers, MatchTune has established partnerships with around fifteen majors – including Universal Music and BMG Production – for the marketing of their catalogues. This solution takes the form of a subscription, 50% of which is donated to them in proportion to the music used (the first three months are free for new entrants). No artist is favored thanks to a system that continuously scans for trends and readjusts the playlists every month.

The United States in sight

As for content creators, thanks to partnerships established with companies with millions of customers, they have access to compositions on which the rights have been negotiated. In a few seconds, the music is distributed by these partner companies to their users thanks to a turnkey solution.

After three years devoted to the development of technology and the constitution of a catalog, MatchTune has just raised 3,5 million euros, in particular from Bpifrance, in order to enter the marketing and international deployment phase. . " We have focused our development around the United States, where the brands, the applications and the largest number of users are located “, notes Philippe Guillaud, CEO of the startup.

With its powerful technology and a unique catalog of more than 1,5 million songs from the biggest labels, MatchTune stays ahead of its competitors and promises to conquer the international market. " We give new access to broadcasting, for all musicians and composers concludes André Manoukian.
