Touch Touch Critic's Week Partner

This year, La French Touch is associated with the 61st edition of Critics' Week, parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, to support young film talent.

Identifying the future big names in the cinema of tomorrow, such is the mission of Critics' Week. On the occasion of its 2022 edition, which will take place from May 18 to 26, La French Touch is committed alongside this Cannes parallel section by creating a "French Touch Jury Prize".

What is Critics' Week?

Created in 1962 by the Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma, this parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival is dedicated to the discovery of new talents by rewarding the first and second films of the big names in the cinema of tomorrow. Julia Ducournau, Jacques Audiard, François Ozon but also Alejandro González Iñarritu, Ken Loach and Wong Kar Wai were revealed by Critics' Week.

Why is La French Touch associated with Critics' Week?

The French Touch is a movement that brings together, connects and federates the talents of the French cultural and creative industries and in particular the sector of cinema and audiovisual. Designed, like Critics' Week, to support and encourage risk-taking, it is therefore only natural that this partnership was born.

What will the “French Touch Jury Prize” reward?

The French Touch Jury Prize aims to reward the audacity and creativity of a filmmaker for one of his first cinematographic works. Awarded by the official Critics' Week jury – made up of five filmmakers, actors and professionals – it will reward one of the filmmakers in competition in the feature film category. €8 will be given to the director of the winning film.
