MIDEM+

Renamed MIDƐM+, the Cannes music industry event made a comeback last January. At work for the organization of this new version of Midem: Panda Events, Hopscotch and Pianity.

After three years of absence, Midem gave way to MIDƐM+. This version 3.0 of the International Record and Music Publishing Market, which took place in Cannes from January 19 to 21, was intended to be more festive, more experiential but also collaborative. leaving ample room for Web3, this edition – punctuated by concerts, showcases, talks, masterclasses and workshops – aimed to highlight the changes inmusic industry. To accompany this change, Pianity, a French NFT music marketplace where artists and their community come together to create, collect and exchange pieces in limited editions, participated in its organization. Kevin Primicerio its CEO tells us more.

How did you find yourself at the heart of this project alongside event professionals?

While the town hall of Cannes had just bought the MIDEM brand with the ambition of reviving this emblematic event, we quickly positioned ourselves alongside Panda Évents, a local player who already organizes the Plages Electroniques in Cannes and with whom we collaborate regularly. , as well as Hopscotch, a recognized communication and events group. We responded together to the City's consultation, and our common ambition coupled with our complementarity thus enabled us to win the production of this new MIDƐM+.

Precisely, what did Pianity bring to this trio?

Already our desire to create a new Midem, more oriented towards Web 3 and new technologies in general. For this, we brought our expertise and our network in this field. For this first edition of MIDƐM+, there was notably The Sandbox, but also the startup Billy, which offers show tickets in the form of NFT, Boléro Music, which are more specialized in social tokens (a digital asset that can be based on the reputation of a brand, an individual – singer, musician, influencer – or even a community, editor's note) and many others. But beyond the curation of innovations and speakers, we have also been proactive in terms of artistic direction, whether for live experiences or evenings. We have also contributed to the creation of the community of MuSee+ (Music Seekers+), a veritable think tank of the music industry, which must in particular participate in the definition of the editorial line of MIDƐM+.

“ We are going to continue on this momentum to offer an even more ambitious 2024 edition ”

Cerrone was present on January 20 for a DJ set. On this occasion, he launched his song "For You" in NFT on Pianity. How did this collaboration come about?

We had been in contact for a few months and we were looking for the right moment. Inviting him to Midem+ was an opportunity for us to offer a new DJ set and to announce the release of this track in NFT at the same time. What we particularly appreciate with Cerrone is his desire to embark on the Web 3 adventure. He is ready to experiment with new things, it's not just a one-off operation. Moreover, we will soon open a discussion group where all his fans, holders of an NFT, will be invited. “For you” is the first of a story and we will write many more. At Pianity, we like this type of long-term project. Just like the MIDƐM+ for that matter. If this event had been a one-shot, we would not have participated.

Are you satisfied with this new edition of MIDƐM+?

This first edition was organized in a very short time, which left us little time to learn how to collaborate. Despite this, we had excellent feedback from all participants. Personally, I think it's really a success. We will continue this momentum to offer an even more ambitious 2024 edition.

Did this experience make you want to participate in the organization of other events?

We are more used to positioning ourselves as participants or co-organizers, because that is not our vocation. Pianity is more of a “tech provider”, our main business is the marketplace. But being the organizer of an event like Midem is a real springboard for showing our know-how.
